DAC can empower you to be a disability advocate and work to ensure that these barriers are removed. * Housing Advocacy and Assistance DAC can provide assistance with: -Landlord-tenant disputes -Home modifications -Applications for housing assistance -Reasonable accommodation requests. *In-Home support Services A few of the services assistants can provide: -Meal Preparation -Dress/Hygiene Assistance -Medication Reminders -Housekeeping -Companionship -Transportation *Individual and Community Advocacy *Life Skills Training *Medical Equipment Exchange *Peer Advocacy Counseling If you are struggling with disability related issues and problems, DAC can offer support. You can choose one-on-one peer counseling or, for some issues, mentoring in a comfortable group setting. Increase your interpersonal skills and understanding of multiple disabilities among family members or groups and benefit from greater participation in society’s mainstream activities, promoting trust and reducing your social isolation. *Technology Assistive technology (AT) includes just about anything that makes it easier for a person with a disability to perform a task. These devices Substitute for or enhance the function of some physical or mental ability. Common examples include: -Mobility aids Such as walkers, canes, scooters, and wheelchairs -Visual aids Such as screen readers, magnifiers and scanners -Listening aids Such as TDDs, close caption TVs, and hearing aids -Household management aids Such as environmental control switches and remote controls -Communication aids Such as boards, and AAC devices (which produce digitized speech) *Transportation Services DAC is an authorized paratransit organization. They provide use of an accessible van for trips outside of the limited public transportation currently offered in the Moscow area.
