  • Notes: PROGRAM FEES: Veterans may be admitted without regard to their financial status. Nursing care residents admitted on or after July 1, 2000, must either apply for and become eligible for Medicaid benefits, or must pay the maximum monthly charge as it may be established from time to time. PROGRAM SERVICES: The 66-bed home features daily activities, including physical therapy; a Canteen area to visit with family and a dining hall that serves three wholesome meals a day. For residents who have relatives visiting from outside the local community we are happy to provide a guest room for short term stays. Qualified veterans and their spouses who need nursing home care are encouraged to contact the Lewiston Veteran's Home to learn more about the resources and services we offer. ADMISSIONS 208-750-3638 SOCIAL SERVICES 208-750-3676 ELGIBILITY Applicants may be peacetime or wartime veterans and spouses of eligible veterans, with wartime veterans retaining priority admission status. Applicants must have been discharged under honorable conditions and be a bona fide resident of the state of Idaho. In addition, applicants must be unemployable as a reSult of age, illness, or disability. Effective July 1, 2000, applicants must apply for and become eligible for Medicaid benefits or must pay the established maximum monthly nursing care charge. All Idaho State Veterans Homes are Medicare and Medicaid certified facilities. Please review the website or call the admissions phone number (208-750-3638) for the specific eligibility criteria. SERVICES AND PROGRAMS -Social Services: assist residents with access to in-house and community resources. -Programs and Activities: include many in-house activities, programs and community outings including but not limited to picnics, musical programs, plays, sporting events, fishing, bingo, chapel programs, storytelling and special parties. Birthdays, special occasions and anniversaries are celebrated with residents. -Facilities: include game rooms, computer access, libraries, craft rooms, television rooms, chapels, outdoor patios and gardening areas. Transportation is provided to residents so they may enjoy 0ff-campus trips and recreational outings. - Medical Services: Each home offers comprehensive medical services including Physicians, laboratory, x-ray, pharmacy, dental optometry, respiratory services as well as physical, occupational and speech/language therapies. NURSING DIETARY SERVICES Meals are provided three times daily in an attractive and cheerful facility dining hall or by trays delivered to our residents' rooms. Residents also receive bedtime and between meal snacks. RELIGIOUS SERVICES Clergy of all non-denominations are welcome at the Home to provide religious services, which are held in the chapel. The religious needs of our residents are coordinated by our religious activities coordinator. VOKLUNTEERS Volunteers from veterans' organizations and other groups donate more than 1,000 hours of their time each month to the Veterans Homes, interacting with residents and providing valuable services. They also organize and sponsor social functions and holiday parties.
